Facebook likes can get you fired!

Facebook "likes" can possibly get you fired, and if you take your employer to court over the punishment you may have an uphill legal battle.

That's what several plaintiffs found when they took the matter to the U.S. District Court for Eastern Virginia.

In the case Bland v. Roberts, the plaintiffs, who had worked in the Hampton, Virginia, sheriff's office under B.J. Roberts, who was running for re-election against Jim Adams, asserted doing things to support their boss' opponent eventually got them fired once Roberts had secured his seat. Such activities included placing a pro-Adams bumper sticker on one of their cars, attending an Adams-sponsored cookout, and "liking" Adams' Facebook page.

Bitching about your boss on Facebook is the last thing you should do especially when your boss is your Facebook friend

If you are fat, obese, camera shy and so on ...... get yourself a Facebook account now

A camera-shy man who tipped the scales at 31-stone, was shocked into shedding more than half his body weight after an unflattering photograph popped up on Facebook.

Matthew Briggs, 29, started piling on the pounds as a teenager, following the death of his mother and would regularly gorge on takeaways, sugary foods and demolish whole tubs of ice cream in one sitting.

But it was only when he saw an image on the social networking site showcasing his 56 inch waist, that he realised his destructive relationship with food had spiraled out of control.

Muslims are rubbish, says Danish politician on Facebook

A far-right Danish politician has been slammed after posting a picture on her Facebook page that compared Muslims with rubbish. Former Dansk Folkeparti (DF) MP Tina Petersen shared a manipulated picture of a burka-clad Muslim woman and child standing in between two black bin bags. “Hehe … Remember to take out the big trash tomorrow ;-))),” Petersen wrote as a caption.

To add insult to injury, one of Petersen’s friends commented below the picture, “Remember: It must be taken to the municipality’s chemical department, as it is hazardous waste;).”

Why you should not flirt on Facebook

Who would have thought befriending a single mother on Facebook would turn into a violent and painful experience?

But such was the case for 32-year-old financial analyst Arthur Samuel after befriending a 44-year-old woman on Facebook in December.

"We became friends almost immediately and soon enough, we were communicating with each other via telephone, SMS and email," Arthur said.

"I thought I had found the right woman for me and we were getting close even though we had never met face-to-face."

However, Arthur said in early January, the woman decided not to continue the relationship.

Left wondering, he continued to contact her until he received a warning from her via SMS.

"She said she would send thugs to beat me up if I did not stop harassing her. But I never harassed her."

On Feb 27, Arthur claimed he was assaulted by eight men at USJ Summit and sustained injuries on his lips, forehead, left leg and back.

"Without saying a word, the men just started throwing punches, kicking and hitting me with crash helmets.

"I don’t understand it because at the time, I had already stopped calling or communicating with the woman. This is totally absurd," said Arthur - Malay Mail

Facebook is not the best place to post pics of your nude ex

Sometimes people get hurt after a break-up. But an Australian man learns that it's not such a good way of showing the hurt if you post nude pics of your ex on Facebook.

Ravshan "Ronnie" Usmanov, 20, posted six pictures of his ex "nude in certain positions and clearly showing her breasts and genitalia.'' At least that's was the Sydney Morning Herald's reading of the court documents.

If you steal a penguin, don't tell the world about it on Facebook

Three UK men are facing criminal charges after they allegedly stole a penguin from Australia's Sea World while drunk, and then boasted about their bird-brained exploits on Facebook.

The men, from Wales, told Australia's 7News they groggily woke up after a night of drinking, and were shocked by the sight of a small penguin waddling around the apartment they were staying at in Queensland.

"Can't believe ... penguin in our apartment man ... we stole a penguin," one of the men says in a video, apparently taken after the hung-over trio woke up.

Don't steal from police and if you do, don't post that pic on Facebook

It’s a bad idea to steal from a police officer. It’s an even worse idea to post a photo of the crime on Facebook.

A Kentucky man was arrested on misdemeanor charge after allegedly siphoning gas from a police cruiser, according to The Smoking Gun.

Micheal Baker, 20, was caught after he posted a photo of himself crouching near a Jenkins Police Department car with the gas tank open on Facebook.

What are politicians made of.....

A Malaysian Member of Parliament (MP) was seated next to a little girl on an airplane so he turned to her and said, "Do you want to talk? Flights go quicker if you strike up aconversation with your fellow passenger."

The little girl, who had just started to read her book, replied to the totalstranger, "What would you want to talk about?"

"Oh, I don't know," said the MP. "How about global warming, universal health care, or stimulus packages?" as he smiled smugly.

"OK," she said."Those could be interesting topics but let me ask you a question first. A horse, a cow, and a deer all eat the same stuff -grass. Yet a deer excretes little pellets, while a cow turns out a flat patty, but a horse produces clumps. Why do you suppose that is?"

The MP, visibly surprised by the little girl's intelligence, thinks about it and says,"Hmmm, I have no idea."

To which the little girl replies,"Do you really feel qualified to discuss global warming, universal health care, or the economy, when you don't know sh!t?"

And then she went back to reading her book.

Betting on Facebook can cost you your life

On Feb. 6, 2011, the Steelers lost Super Bowl XLV to the Packers 31-25.

Five weeks later, Jarami Thomas paid for it with his life.

The 20-year-old placed a $40 bet on the game over Facebook , according to the Tarrant County District Attorney's, and lost it to a member of an Arlington street gang called Lynch Mob.

Another member of that gang, 19-year-old Clevin Earl Brown Jr., was sentenced today to 50 years in prison for shooting Thomas to death in front of an Arlington convenience store, the DA's office said in a release.

Brown was one of several Lynch Mob members who ambushed Thomas and his friends in the 3200 block of Green Oaks Boulevard in the early hours of March 14, 2011, the release states. He had been lured there with the promise that he could settle his debt by fighting the man he lost the bet to.

Instead, the gangsters blocked Thomas' car in, dragged him from it, and stood by as Brown shot him in the arm and chest. He died shortly after his friends drove him to a hospital.

Another day, another Facebook scam

Facebook scammers are once again trying to take advantage of gullible users who want to see a sensational video. This time it’s NASA that is claiming the world will end in 2012. There is no video. Don’t click it, don’t Like it, and don’t Share it.

This particular scam says something along the lines of “2012 DOOMSDAY CONFIRMED: NASA WARNS BE PREPARED!!” followed by a fraudulent link. Sometimes it has the words “Know what to expect after seeing this leaked” tacked on to the beginning. It also has the following description: “Leaked NASA video, warns public of upcoming 2012 DOOMSDAY!” Another version says “2012 Doomsday Confirmed Nasa Warns Be Prepared, Schematic illustration of the Earth’s magnetic field.”

If you are broke, hack your mayor's Facebook

An unidentified person hacked the Facebook account of Yogyakarta Mayor Herry Zudianto on Thursday and tried to use it to ask for money from a chat friend.

A staff member at the municipal administration’s public relation division, Ismawati Retno, said the breach was uncovered following a text message sent to her by her friend, Donny Surya Megananda.

“He told me that his friend, Fajar Suryagama, had chatted with someone using Pak Herry’s account this morning, asking him to wire Rp 8 million to the bank account of someone named Suwandi,” Ismawati said.

The person said the money was to pay for a BlackBerry unit, and told Fajar that the money would be transferred back to him later that day, she added.

Sensing awkwardness, Fajar promised the person he would transfer the money later. The person stopped chatting but left the account online.

“From the language used and the chatting content, it’s apparent that the account was hacked,” Isma said.

Herry Zudianto said that he realized that his account might have been compromised after receiving a report from the community.

“I tried to go online to my Facebook account this morning but failed. I didn’t realize that it was being hacked,” he said.

Herry called on the people to be careful.

“It was fortunate that Mas Fajar realized the incident and nothing bad happened,” he said - Jakarta Post

Tsunami is coming! Tsunami is coming! Rush home now but don't forget to take home a bucket of KFC chicken

KFC has apologised for a Facebook message that urged people to rush home during yesterday’s tsunami scare in Thailand and order a bucket of chicken.

As people were being urged to evacuate beach areas, the company posted: “Let’s hurry home and follow the earthquake news. And don’t forget to order your favourite KFC menu.”

It prompted hundreds of angry comments on Thai websites denouncing the company as insensitive and selfish.

By today the message was removed and replaced by one that asked for forgiveness.

Yesterday’s earthquakes in Indonesia revived memories of the 2004 Asian tsunami that claimed 230,000 lives, including more than 8,000 people in Thailand - IrishExaminer

If you attend a Catholic school, don't post your kissing pic on Facebook. Especially if your kissing partners are also males

A Philippine Catholic school is withholding the diplomas of six high school boys who uploaded Facebook photos that appear to show them kissing one another, an education official said Friday.

A day earlier, a Philippine court rejected another Catholic school's decision to bar five girls from graduation ceremonies because they had posed in bikinis for photos posted on Facebook. Why dirty cops must be banned from Facebook

A DIRTY cop used Facebook to urge underage girls to take part in threesomes and send him naked photos, a judge heard today.

Prosecutor Fiona Thompson said that during a year of online offending Senior Constable Paul Raeck, 34, bombarded seven victims with sexually explicit suggestions and continually asked some of the girls to have sex with him.

Ms Thompson said the girls were aged between 13 and 15 and when they were interviewed by police they described Raeck as "creepy'' "gross'' and "weird'' and they were concerned when he suggested meetings.

Raeck set up a fake Facebook page in the name of Zane Harrison, a good looking tradie in his late teens and his profile picture was taken from a male modelling agency on the internet.

Ms Thompson said Raeck hounded some of the girls with lewd suggestions and one said that whenever she logged on to her Facebook site he would immediately contact her.

He told one 15-year-old victim she was "pretty hot and sexy'' , asked for a photo of her breasts, suggested a threesome with his 27-year-old mate and asked her to "go parking''.

Raeck asked the girls to use a webcam to pose naked for him or flash their boobs and told them he was "getting horny'' and masturbating to their profile photos.

Ms Thompson said the victims mainly ignored his requests and suggestions but one 13-year-old girl removed her jumper while he watched her on a webcam but then stopped when her mother entered the room - Herald Sun Australia

If you cut me from your Facebook account, I will report to Teacher Angkhana

Authorities yesterday sought to allay concerns about the misuse of technology after a video clip of a schoolboy venting anger over being "blocked" from a group's Facebook page spread like wildfire on the Internet.

In the clip, the boy is heard threatening, "If you don't bring me back to the 1/9 group, Teacher Angkhana [Sabangban] will definitely find out about this."

The boy posted the clip himself. His classmate posted another clip as a rejoinder, raising concerns that new technology could prove detrimental to children's relationships.

This concern is getting stronger especially since the government is about to hand out tablets to all firstgrade students.

Education Minister Suchart Tadathamrongvej, meanwhile, has suggested that teachers and parents keep a close eye on how children use these devices.

Chinnapat Bhumirat, secretarygeneral of Office of Basic Education Commission, has voiced confidence the tablets would become useful tools for learning and not be misused.

"The use of the tablets will be under strict supervision of teachers," he explained.

Meanwhile, Angkhana, who teaches at Krathumbang Wises Samutkhun School, said she had already helped resolve the dispute.

"This quarrel has been going on since January, but now the students already understand each other," she said.

She explained that her name was mentioned in the first clip because she had always told her students to come to her every time they had a problem.

The widely circulated video clips have also spawned brand new phrase: "Teacher Angkhana will definitely find out about this".

Don't flirt with someone else's wife on Facebook or you may end up dead.....

A jealous Taiwanese husband led an assault on a Facebook user who had flirted with his wife online, beating him to death with baseball clubs, police said Monday.

Chou You-huang, a 34-year-old resident of south Taiwan's Pingtung county, told police that he had requested a meeting with the 40-year-old victim, Chuang Shih-chang, after he found out about the online relationship.

When Chuang turned up at the agreed spot outside a restaurant early Saturday morning, Chou and two of his friends attacked him with baseball bats, according to police.

The three men beat him ferociously and then left him there, believing he had not suffered life-threatening injuries, according to police statements.

Chuang was discovered dead shortly afterwards. Police subsequently arrested the three allegedly involved in the assault.

Why Facebook must ban all doctors

A surgeon accused of malpractice over the death of a patient joked about 'slaughtering the innocent' on Facebook.

Brendan O'Riordan, 52, wrote on the social networking site: 'Back and causing chaos. Been on call this week. Been in theatre this week slaughtering the innocent'.

The remark shocked patients and 'disgusted' Liz Antoniazzi, whose husband Johnnie died while under the supervision of Dr O'Riordan at West Wales General Hospital last December.

Mr Antoniazzi was admitted to the Carmarthen hospital after suffering broken ribs during a traffic accident. He died four weeks later after developing a blocked bowel, bedsores and an infection. Dr O'Riordan was the consultant in charge of his care.

Facebook porn star at 14

A 14-YEAR-OLD boy has been arrested after a porn film featuring him and a girl of the same age was posted on Facebook.

The video was also shared among pupils at school and there are fears it has already been seen by thousands of youngsters nationwide.

The teen, from Cheltenham, was given a final warning by police which will remain on his file for six years.

Headteacher Lawrence Montagu wrote to parents of pupils at St Peter's High School in Gloucester to warn them — though neither teen was a pupil there.

He said: "I am led to believe that this video involves young people from schools in Gloucestershire but not, I emphasise, St Peter's.

"However, I know that the video has been viewed by students in St Peter's and I have spoken to the school about the lack of dignity and self-respect people have who allow themselves to be portrayed in such a way.”

Gloucestershire Constabulary said the force had spoken to the girl and her parents - The Sun
